This page lists the codes Reap returns in `application.rejectionLabels` when a user's application is `REJECTED` or `RETRY_REQUIRED`. Use them to triage applications and to tell your users what to fix. `rejectionLabels` is for your internal use only. Do not display the codes to the end user or share them outside your organization. Some codes flag suspected fraud or a sanctions match. Translate them into your own guidance instead. ## How to read the labels * **A label does not decide whether the user can retry.** The same label can come with either status. Use `application.status` for that: `RETRY_REQUIRED` means the user can submit again, `REJECTED` is final. * **One application can carry several labels.** For example, a failed selfie often returns `SELFIE_MISMATCH`, `BAD_FACE_MATCHING`, and `BAD_SELFIE` together. * **The list can grow.** Handle codes you do not recognize, for example by falling back to `rejectionReason`. ## Document problems | Label | Meaning | | - | - | | `ADDITIONAL_DOCUMENT_REQUIRED` | Another document is needed to pass the check. | | `BACK_SIDE_MISSING` | The back side of the document is missing. | | `BAD_PROOF_OF_ADDRESS` | The proof of address is poor quality. | | `BAD_PROOF_OF_IDENTITY` | The ID document is poor quality. | | `BLACK_AND_WHITE` | The document photos are black and white. | | `DIGITAL_DOCUMENT` | The document is digital and cannot be accepted. | | `DOCUMENT_DAMAGED` | The document is damaged. | | `DOCUMENT_PAGE_MISSING` | Some pages of the document are missing. | | `EXPIRATION_DATE` | The document has expired. | | `FRONT_SIDE_MISSING` | The front side of the document is missing. | | `ID_INVALID` | The identity document is not valid. | | `INCOMPATIBLE_LANGUAGE` | The user must upload a translation of the document. | | `INCOMPLETE_DOCUMENT` | Some information on the document is missing or only partly visible. | | `LOW_QUALITY` | The document quality is too low to reach a decision. | | `MORE_DOCUMENTS_REQUIRED` | More documents are needed to complete the review. | | `NO_SUITABLE_DOCS` | The user could not provide a suitable document. | | `NOT_DOCUMENT` | The upload is not a document relevant to verification. | | `SCREENSHOTS` | The user uploaded screenshots instead of photos of the document. | | `UNFILLED_ID` | The document has no signature or stamp. | | `UNSATISFACTORY_PHOTOS` | The photos have problems, such as poor quality or hidden information. | | `UNSUITABLE_DOCUMENT` | The document is the wrong type or lacks a required element, such as a seal. | ## Selfie and liveness | Label | Meaning | | - | - | | `BAD_FACE_MATCHING` | The face check between the document and the selfie failed. | | `BAD_SELFIE` | The selfie is poor quality. | | `BAD_VIDEO_SELFIE` | The video selfie is poor quality. | | `CAMERA_OR_LIGHTING_ISSUES` | The camera or lighting was not good enough. | | `SELFIE_MISMATCH` | The selfie does not match the photo on the document. | | `SELFIE_WITH_PAPER` | The user must upload a special selfie, for example holding a paper with the date. | | `VIDEO_FILTERS_OR_MASKS` | Video filters or masks were applied. | ## Data mismatch | Label | Meaning | | - | - | | `ADDITIONAL_DATA_REQUIRED` | More data is needed to complete the check. | | `DB_DATA_MISMATCH` | The submitted data does not match an external database. | | `DB_DATA_NOT_FOUND` | The submitted data was not found in an external database. | | `DB_NO_DATA_SOURCE` | No available source supports the submitted data. | | `INCONSISTENT_PROFILE` | Data or documents of different people were submitted for one user. | | `INCORRECT_SOCIAL_NUMBER` | The tax or social security number is incorrect. | | `INSUFFICIENT_DATA` | There is not enough data to reach a decision. | | `PROBLEMATIC_APPLICANT_DATA` | The user's details do not match the document. Ask the user to enter their name exactly as it appears on the ID. | | `REQUESTED_DATA_MISMATCH` | The submitted details do not match the data read from the document. | | `WRONG_ADDRESS` | The address on the documents does not match the address the user provided. | ## Eligibility | Label | Meaning | | - | - | | `AGE_REQUIREMENT_MISMATCH` | The user does not meet the age requirement. | | `COUNTRY_BLOCKED` | The document or address country is not supported. See [unsupported jurisdictions](/compliance/kyc/overview#unsupported-jurisdictions). | | `DUPLICATE` | The user has already been verified, and duplicates are not allowed. | | `FOREIGNER` | Users from this country, or without a residence permit, are not accepted. | | `IDV_DOC_TYPE_NOT_ALLOWED` | This document type is not accepted for the document's country. | | `REGULATIONS_VIOLATIONS` | The user does not meet applicable regulations or compliance requirements. | | `WRONG_USER_REGION` | Users from this region or country cannot be registered. | ## Fraud and risk | Label | Meaning | | - | - | | `ADVERSE_MEDIA` | The user appears in adverse media. | | `BLOCKLIST` | The user is on a blocklist. | | `COMPLIANCE_SCREENING_FAILED` | The user failed compliance screening. | | `COMPROMISED_PERSONS` | The user does not meet the compromised persons policy. | | `CRIMINAL` | The user is involved in illegal activity. | | `DOCUMENT_DEPRIVED` | The user has been deprived of the document. | | `DOCUMENT_TEMPLATE` | The document is a template downloaded from the internet. | | `FORGERY` | The document appears forged. | | `FRAUDULENT_LIVENESS` | The user tried to bypass the liveness check. | | `FRAUDULENT_PATTERNS` | Fraudulent behavior was detected. | | `GRAPHIC_EDITOR` | The document was edited with a graphics editor. | | `HIGH_RISK` | An unacceptably high level of risk was detected. | | `PEP` | The user is a politically exposed person. | | `RESTRICTED_PERSON` | The user is on a restricted list. | | `SANCTIONS` | The user is on a sanctions list. | | `SPAM` | The application was created by mistake or is spam, for example after too many attempts. | | `SPONSORED_VERIFICATION` | The user is suspected of being paid to open the account. | | `STOLEN_DOCS` | The documents are suspected stolen. | | `SUSPICIOUS_DOCUMENT` | The document looks suspicious. | | `THIRD_PARTY_GUIDANCE` | A third party misled or forced the user into the application. | | `THIRD_PARTY_INVOLVED` | The user is verifying on behalf of a third party. | ## Incomplete or failed checks | Label | Meaning | | - | - | | `CHECK_UNAVAILABLE` | An external check was unavailable at the time of review. | | `IDV_VERIFICATION_FAILED` | The identity document check could not be completed. | | `INCOMPLETE_SUBMISSION` | The verification was submitted without all required steps. | | `LEVEL_ENFORCED_MISMATCH` | The verification did not meet the level your program requires. | | `NOT_ALL_CHECKS_COMPLETED` | Some checks were not completed. | | `POA_VERIFICATION_FAILED` | The proof of address check could not be completed. | | `OTHER` | A reason outside the categories above.
